Newport News, VA – On June 25, 2010 the Spectrum Foundation, in conjunction with Spectrum’s new health initiative, Fit Factor, hosted its monthly Foundation Friday at corporate headquarters in Newport News, VA. Over 30 local employees gathered to participate in the event.

Members of the Spectrum Foundation and Spectrum employees worked together to organize and host this joint event. Fit Factor was visible through the special menu that was selected along with the brochures and literature that were provided to participants.

Jeff Wassmer, President of the Board of Directors for the Spectrum Foundation noted, “Spectrum’s employees are taking a more active role in managing their own wellness as well as motivating each other. I am excited that we are able to combine an event that benefits charities within the community while also providing education and support for the healthier lifestyle our employees prefer.

Fit Factor encourages healthy eating, active lifestyles, and overall improved health and vitality amongst Spectrum’s employees. Internal competitions as well as education and participation in community fitness are encouraged and supported as Spectrum employees make the decision to live healthy lives.

The Spectrum Foundation represents all Spectrum employees and family members. The Disabled American Veterans organization is the primary benefactor of the Foundation, however various other not-for-profit organizations also receive funds and donations.

Spectrum is a veteran-owned small business, founded in 1999 to serve the Department of Defense and the US Government. In 2009 Spectrum established the Spectrum Foundation to serve the needs of the community.
