On May 7, 2009 the Hampton Roads Technology Council (HRTC) held its annual TechNite for 2009. This year’s Awards Banquet was attended by Anthoney Stoney, Executive Vice President and COO; Steve LaFata, Vice President and Director of Business Relations; Mike Nickerson, Vice President and Director of Technology Solutions; Dave Enoch, Director of Human Resources; and Grant Keller, Manager of Information Technology. For this year’s event Spectrum was nominated in two categories. The first was the Williams Mullen Community Involvement Award for contributions to the Hampton Roads community and participation and sponsorship in numerous events, activities and organizations that better the welfare of others in our community. The second nomination was the Cox Business Services Embracing Technology Award for leading-edge, innovative technological advances accomplished by Spectrum’s Envision Labs under the leadership of Mike Nickerson. Spectrum was announced as the winner of the Cox Business Services Embracing Technology Award and the award was accepted by Steve LaFata on behalf of the entire Spectrum Team. This award honors an organization that has recently embraced technology through the successful implementation of a technology-based solution. Jeff Wassmer, President and CEO of Spectrum, stated that “Spectrum continues to push the edge of technology through our innovative and creative employees – we truly “˜Envision the Future.”
